This has to be one of the best moving image works I have seen regarding images and permissions and shooting in ‘public’ spaces. Most importantly it is a conversation!
We were there to begin to explore the road and it’s history via living and working conditions of people who have lived and worked there.
By chance, an encounter here touched upon another interest of ours – the blurred boundaries between public and private space and the subsequent management and rules that encourage or prohibit our free interactions there.
For the issues around public and private space we found Anna Minton’s book Ground Control particularly insightful; the second edition includes a chapter on the impact of the Olympic site around Hackney.
